Six Christmas Villages at Circuit Makati Bazaar

Christmas is around the corner and some advance shopping has been done by some people I know, but for those who want to do their Christmas shopping in bazaars with a legit Christmas feels (you know, Christmas decors and music in the background) then you better not miss the upcoming Circuit Makati Bazaar happening from November 18 - 20!  I was present during their media launch and I'm happy to share with you what to expect during the three-day bazaar!

This exciting outdoor bazaar is inspired by Christmas markets from around the globe and will feature six Christmas villages bursing with over 500 merchants offering the best holiday finds for you and your family like gift items, clothes, accessories, knick knacks, electronics, toys, and food.  While doing your Christmas shopping, there will be activities for you and your family to enjoy, lined up by Ayala Land such as Santa's Corner, where kids can tell a real-life Santa Claus their Christmas wish and have their photos taken with him and Mrs. Claus.

Christmas Villages
I like the concept of having different sections in a bazaar so that an OC shopper would know which area to go to for a particular item in mind.  Hence, I am happy to share with you that Circuit Makati Bazaar is going to make your shopping experience pleasant and orderly.  We know how sometimes shoppers (including me) could go gaga and hop non-stop from one shop to another and then get lost right?  The Christmas villages will make shopping easier and stress-free!

My two favorite Christmas villages are: Fit & Fab by Hunt & Gather, and Mommy's Best by Project Mom, because they reflect my persona as a mom and one who to who I am as a person and also answer to what my needs are.  The other villages which cater to different awesome needs and offer quality and unique holiday finds are: Star Avenue, Lil' Preneur by HedCen. Karl Edwards and Kaizen Events, and Mercato Centrale.

Fit & Fab by Hunt & Gather is a village where you'll find organic, sports, wellness, and lifestyle items.  All items and merchants in this village are carefully selected and offer locally-sourced products.  If you're in for paleo, keto, vegan, natural, organic, nutrition and fitness products and services, then this village will be close to your heart!
Mommy's Best by Project Mom is a village dedicated to mommy, babies, and kids, home, and make it the whole family.   Headead by Amanda Griffin and Bianca Araneta-Elizalde, this village houses some of the most sought-after products and services for the family which are all mom-approved.  Most of the brands available are those that I love, actually use, and also those which are in my Christmas wishlist too!  I think I could stay here all day!
If you get star struck with celebrities, especially those who are admirably working hard with their businesses, then go to the Star Avenue village and see celebrities do their thing! Encounter celebrities lioke Shaina Magdayao, Miriam Quiambao, Gretchen Fullido, Christine Babao, LJ Moreno-Alapag, Nikki Valdez, and Maria Isabel Lopez with daughter Mara Lopez, AND don't forget of course to purchase their products or pre-loved items.
Lil'Preneur by HedCen will display a wide array of goodies for students from grade school to high school.  There will also be storytelling and musical performances too.
For the young and hip, the fashionable and techie shoppers, Millennials Spot featuring Karl Edwards and Kaizen Events, Inc. is the village for you.  Find gadgets, fashion items, trinkets, and everything in between perfect for gifting yourselves, family, friends, and colleagues!
Lastly, after all the energized shopping's done, I'm sure the next best thing you'll look for is FOOD!  Mercato Centrale will be occupying one village to cater to your gastronomic needs and wants.  You'll find home-cooked meals, delicious desserts, drinks, and all the goodness gracious food that may satisfy your hungry tummies made by Metro Manila's food entrepreneurs.
Excited?  I am too!  Mark your calendars and make sure you take advantage of Circuit Makati's hippest and biggest Christmas Bazaar ever!  The Circuit Makati Bazaar is co-presented by MasterCard and HSBC.  If you're cardholders of these two, you'd get a chance to win in their raffle and you get it the bazaar for FREE.  For non-cardholders of MasterCard and HSBC, entrance to the bazaar is Php100.00.

Keep Dengue And Zika Off with OFF! Lotion

I remember when a dear friend of mine died because of Dengue a few years ago, it was scary.  He was a young father with two children who at that time were both below 7 years old.  It was a devastating family situation which left his wife depressed and unprepared.

Dengue scares me a lot.  And now with the Zika virus existing alongside it, I am all the more worried all the time.   I don't want my family to experience losing someone because of a simple mosquito bite.  So for me, prevention is better than cure.

As a mother of three boys, I do all I can to protect my children from getting Dengue or Zika.  Call me paranoid, but I’ve been applying a mosquito repellent on my kids and make it a part of their daily hygiene.

I use OFF! Overtime Lotion for my teenager and OFF! For Kids for my preschooler religiously.  It’s a non-negotiable item when doing the personal care shopping in the grocery.  At home, in school or out all together as a family, they can never be without it.  I have to be extra vigilant when it comes to applying a mosquito repellent because I witnessed how hard it was for my deceased friend to fight Dengue in the hospital then eventually lose the battle, and how slowly his wife and kids picked up from that life event.  I don’t ever want any of my kids to miss school days, see them become weak due to Dengue and Zika fevers, and go through series of blood tests and get used to trips to hospitals to get checked and treated.  Lastly and worst of all, I can’t risk losing them to Dengue or Zika.  These are the things I don’t ever want us and any family to deal with.
I’m seriously conscious in protecting my kids from mosquito bites, that’s why I also let them wear light-colored clothes which could cover the children’s body if possible like long-sleeves, pants, or sweaters in colder seasons.  At home, we remove stagnant water hanging around such as pots, tires, gutters, drums, other containers to prevent mosquitoes to make it their breeding sites.  We also use nets to cover the window or doors (works on baby’s crib and stroller too!) to prevent mosquitoes from entering the house.  And of course we apply OFF! Lotion all day, every day.

OFF! Mosquito Repellent Lotion provides protection against both Dengue and Zika carrying mosquitoes.  Knowing that my children are protected gives me peace of mind.  I highly recommend you to also be consistent and vigilant in applying OFF! Lotion.  For my eldest son who’s a basketball varsity, I use OFF! Overtime.  Because he spends longer time outside the house now due to his daily basketball training after school, OFF! Overtime is more suitable for him which gives 8 hours of protection in repelling mosquitoes.  My preschooler uses OFF! Kids which protects him for 3 hours against mosquitoes.  It’s dermatologically tested with tropical fresh fragrance suitable for kids.
Both variants are easy to apply, are non-greasy and have a pleasant smell which they both like.  With OFF! Lotion applied regularly, they are both protected against mosquitoes that may carry Dengue and Zika viruses.  I’m glad that OFF! Lotion has been a partner in caring for their health and overall well-being.

OFF! Lotion is available in major supermarkets, drugstores, groceries, and even sari-sari stores.  Personally, we buy the 100ml variant for use at home and when going out.  It’s convenient to pack in their bags and bring it with them especially when we travel as a family.

Protect yourself and your loved ones from the scary mosquitoes that may carry Dengue and Zika viruses with OFF! Lotion.  You don’t only protect them from deadly mosquitoes but also from the fearful life events which could happen to the family due to Dengue and Zika.

Plants Vs. Zombies Halloween Party At Luxent Hotel

It has been more than a week since our attendance of Luxent Hotel's Plant Vs. Zombies Lawn Of Doom Halloween Party and I still can't get over with it, especially my preschooler.  Why?  Because Plants Vs. Zombies happens to be one of his favorite games and he likes to portray himself as a zombie.  When we told him that we're going to go to a Plants Vs. Zombies themed party, he was shrieking out of joy!  So lo and behold, the whole family dressed up for the occasion and YES even our baby Damien.
#LuxentLawnOfDoom
Daddy came in a Harry Potter costume, Baby Damien as a Skeleton Baby, I as a Snapchat Filter (haha! look at my flower crown), our teenager as a Jabbawockeez Dancer, and Wes as a Zombie!
We all wore our Halloween costumes for the event Wes looked forward to!
Wes as a Zombie in Plants Vs Zombie-themed Halloween Party at Luxent Hotel
It was this baby's first-ever Halloween party and we're glad it was with Luxent Hotel
The Seasons Ballroom was designed with hanging zombies from the ceiling such as in the Plants Vs. Zombies game.  The whole place was packed and in fact Luxent Hotel announced that their Halloween Party tickets were sold out a few days before the event.  Why wouldn't it be?  It's one of the most organized, most generous, and one of the most worth-it Hotel Halloween parties we've attended.  Luxent Hotel makes its guests feel really special and part of the event, like no one is left out.  I love it also that I saw my name on our assigned table.  Yup, they were that organized.
Seasons Ballroom, well-dressed for the occasion.
When we came to the venue, the program had already started and guests had their fills from the lunch buffet.  The buffet spread was more than enough to make one fully satisfied.  And as if the lunch prepared wasn't enough, they had snacks and some sweets for everyone too!  We took part of some fries, gummy worms, and ice cream as well.  Their glasses of juice were uber cute as well as they too were dressed up for the Halloween!
Ghost-juices
The four-hour event was definitely fun-filled.  There was something to do for everybody!  Certainly every minute was spent well, no wasted time!  There were on-stage activities such as a puppet show, magic show, games for both kids and kids-at-heart, raffle prizes, and announcement of Best In Costume too.

A funny Superman puppet who just rode a taxi because he couldn't seem to fly that moment.  That left the kids and parents laughing out loud!

Best in costume winners.
Though Wes didn't win a prize for his scary Zombie costume, he had so much fun playing the part and chasing after other kids.  Wait a minute... he was chasing only after the girls!!!  Wes ha!  The parents of the kids were there and actually took photos of their girls with my zombified son.
While the program was ongoing, Daddy Macky had our fills from the buffet, roamed around a little, did some selfies with the kids and checked out the other pocket activities off-stage.

Outside the ballroom, there were activities for kids who were shy to join the on-stage or front activities. I'm impressed that Luxent Hotel was thoughtful enough to prepare these other activities to keep kids roaming around busy.  There were coloring activity, face painting, and ring toss, card game, and many more.

Apart from the generous giving away of gift certificates for Garden Cafe buffets and Reluxe Spa treats, all kids came home with a cute and hefty sunflower pot of treats and that ain't a trick! :)  My sweet tooth (yup mine, not the kids! haha!) was delighted to see some of my favorite candies and chocolates in it!  Manila Bulletin also gave away some loots (of magazines and treats) for the parents.
A Great Halloween Party Indeed!
It was our first time to attend a Halloween party in Luxent Hotel and compared to other hotel parties we attended to, this one didn't disappoint us at all!  Not a bit!  Imagine for only Php850 net per person, we got a lot!  No wonder their tickets got sold out pretty fast.  First of all, their lunch buffet spread was filling and not bitin.  Everyone had a feast with its main course and dessert spread as well.  The snacks for those staying in the table to tend to the belongings or babies or just enjoy and observe the happenings, were delish!  I particularly enjoyed the fries and ice cream!

The program's Host/Ventriloquist/Puppet Show Master/Magician/And-Everything-Else-In-Between was really rocking it!  He was entertaining and he managed to engage his audiences.  You wouldn't notice the passing of time watching him do his stuff and making everyone laugh.  His jokes were mindful, wholesome and not offensive compared to other entertainers.  Their pocket activities were also well-thought of and it addressed kids who wandered around or couldn't stay too long for the program.

Luxent Hotel's GC prizes were overflowing.  Kulang na lang bigyan nila isa-isa mga guests (unfortunately hindi pwede at hindi rin kami nanalo sa raffle).  Super generous with the raffle prizes for the kids and adults too!

The Seasons Ballroom was spacious.  All the guests were taken to their assigned tables and were seated properly.  The whole event was well-organized and if I happen to be their manager, I would give them incentives for a job well done!

We had fun as parents.  The kids enjoyed the whole time we were there so much so that we didn't notice that the program was coming to an end.

Will we attend an event again in Luxent Hotel?  YES!  We definitely will!  It's now going to be prioritized on our list for sure.  Congratulations to the staff of Luxent Hotel for the successful Halloween Event.

Our Spooktacular Overnight Stay At Luxent Hotel
I love staycations.  I really do!  A mom with three kids, and one of them is a baby, spells hectic and sometimes stressful schedule.  This also means days could be physical draining and the time you used to own, is no longer yours to keep!  Moms like me need an escape, at least away from the house.  Okay, no need for me to justify the need and love for staycations.  At least a night away from the familiar house is a welcoming moment for me.  Just to see fluffy white pillows and bed sheets (which I don't have to wash) and actually lay down on it, is truly something I appreciate.
After the Halloween party, we checked in Luxent Hotel for an overnight stay.  We literally stayed-in.  We didn't go out of the room at all!  I wanted to just relax, blog and enjoy the free wifi, and actually feel the soft pillows and the comfort of the hotel bed for as long as I can.

The Spooktacular Overnight Stay at Luxent Hotel was inclusive of the following:
- Room accommodation in a Superior Room
- Buffet Breakfast for 2 adults and 2 kids (12 years old and below)
- Unlimited Wi-Fi Internet connectivity (YEAH BABY!)
- Use of pool and gym
- Late check-out at 2pm
- One (1) Plants vs Zombies Halloween party ticket (per room/stay)

Guess what, I love that the foldable cot was free of use during our stay and I really appreciated it a.  No more worries of baby falling out of the bed should he roll.
The only times I remembered stepping out of our room were during breakfast and swim time.  I had a rejuvenating one night, at least, a night of no mess to put away, no clothes or sheets to wash, and no breakfast to cook.  That's what I love about staying in!
Other than these activities (breakfast and swimming) we didn't go out of the room.  Sinulit talaga ang staycation.  Ang saya ng katawang mommy-lupa ko!  Promise!  And the boys?  Guess what?  Nakisama, they also stayed in and brought our X-Box console and other gadgets as well.  Here are more family photos:

The experience?  Awesome!  It was a great jumpstart to the long weekend!  Thanks so much Luxent Hotel for the well-organized and fun-filled Halloween party.  We'll be looking forward to more spectacular events in your hotel.  Also, the overnight stay, just like our first one, was indeed relaxing and the family felt and were treated special.

Kudos to all the staff for the great customer service, for maintaining the cleanliness of the hotel, safety and security of the guests, for the sumptuous breakfast, and for making us all feel so much at home, even if we're away from it.  We had a #delightfulexperience and one which we wouldn't forget!  We'll definitely be back, again and again!

Upgrading Kids’ Probiotic Drink with Dutch Mill Delight

As a mom of boys who are always active, I make sure I give them the best possible care I could give.  I make sure their set of clothes and uniforms are complete, their school requirements are met, and their nutritional needs are especially well attended to.  From the food they eat at home and in school, their vitamin supplements, and drinks, we make sure everything we provide them will help them have stronger immune system and have healthier tummies too.  Hirap kasi if upset or constipated sila, ouch talaga!  Everything’s affected.

Kaya when we do our grocery shopping, you will not usually find sodas and chips in our carts.  Instead, apart from fruits, breads, and juice, they put in a pack of Dutch Mill Delight.  For them, it’s a treat because it’s a delicious drink they could gulp with their snacks anytime.  Hindi nila alam, I’m really happy they like it because more than it being a yummy treat, it’s packed with Probiotic and Prebiotic Fiber which make their tummies healthier.
What they liked about Dutch Mill Delight is that it’s bigger in size, not bitin to drink, and it has a richer milky taste!  As parents we like it because it’s got DUO-ACTIVEformula to aid in digestion and make their tummies healthy.  I could say that it’s an upgrade from what we used to buy in the neighborhood supermarket.
It’s just like instead of getting plastic car toys for them, we upgrade the choice to die-cast cars so it will last longer and can be used by younger siblings pa.  Or instead of getting a well-known brand for baby’s diaper bag but small in size, we got a durable, spacious and quality diaper bag for the same or lower price.  It’s an upgrade in the quality of what we purchase but not an upgrade in cost.  For us, we go for upgrades.  Big and More is better, lalo na if it’s not costly.

Every time we give something to our children, di ba we don’t want to settle for anything less?  Ako as a practical mom, I always go for getting more than what I pay for.  We have the same principle with Dutch Mill Delight because for the same price, we get more out of it.  Prebiotic Fiber in Dutch Mill Delight helps multiply and strengthen the Probiotic.
We know how fiber works in our tummies right? It just means you could say goodbye to constipation because of a feel-good bowel movement each time! With stronger and healthier tummy due to a probiotic drink that has prebiotic fiber, the good bacteria last longer in the tummies of not only our kids’ but ours too! Kaya binabaon ko rin naman talaga to sa work!
We have a rule at home which is to set an example by walking the talk and being a role model.  So our children eat and drink what we do.  If we eat junk, they will too.  Kaya we said NO to junk a long time ago and welcome healthy food and drinks in our household.  That’s why for healthier tummies for the kids, dun na kami sa 2nd generation of Probiotic drink, Dutch Mill Delight.  Indulge without guilt, safe to drink every day, and convenient to buy!

Dutch Mill Delight is available in all leading supermarkets in Metro Manila, Batangas, Bulacan, and Pampanga, 7-Eleven, and direct sales through Delight Ladies (Manila, Quezon City, Taguig, and Rizal).  Each pack contains five (5) bottles and is sold for only Php 40.00/pack.

Forgive me for sharing just now my newest guilty pleasure discovery!  It's Auntie Anne's Almond Biscoff Bites!  If you're a fan of Lotus Biscoff spread, then you'l definitely love the newest offering of Auntie Anne's.  The good news is, it's still available for you to savor its honest-to-goodness oh-so-yummy taste.  The not so good news is, it's only offered for a limited time.  So better hurry and treat yourself to a box of Aunti Anne's Almond Biscoff Bites ASAP! :)
The Auntie Anne's Almond Biscoff Bites for me is best paired with a glass of lemonade!
Look at how gooey and about to come out Lotus Biscoff Biscuit Spread is in this nugget!
Auntie Anne's is a Premium Pretzel brand and coming up with a brilliant idea to include the caramelized biscuit spread, Lotus Biscoff, is just great!  “Lotus Biscoff Spread’s delectable flavor sets these sweet bites apart from the other existing bites,” Auntie Anne’s Marketing Manager Michelle Guballa shared.

When my son and I tried it for the first time, we already knew we were gonna like it.  We both love Auntie Anne's already and we shared happy memories with Auntie Anne's when my son was younger.  The pretzel nugget was still warm when we took a bite so the Lotus Biscoff filling came out and it was a satisfying treat for a sweet tooth like us.
My new guilty pleasure discovery: Auntie Anne's Almond Biscoff Bites!
This boy had happy childhood memories with Auntie Anne's, so this limited offer
was given a thumbs up!
What we like about it is that the pretzel is freshly baked, the almond gave it a different texture and crisp in every chew, and the warm Lotus Biscoff was exploding inside the mouth!  It's not too sweet because Auntie Anne's signature dough baked to perfection balanced the taste.
"The traditional way of eating our biscuits with spreads sparked the idea of this partnership with Auntie Anne’s, which is in line with our brand mission to create new innovative and tasty products. The rich flavor of Lotus Biscoff spread and Auntie Anne’s dough is a perfect combination realized in the new Almond Biscoff Bites,” said Fly Ace Corporation Product Manager for Snacks Emie San Beda.

Christmas is just a few weeks away oh my gulay, and family reunions and other gatherings start to fill up my calendar.  For pot luck events, apart from my most-requested Spaghetti, we bring Pork Menudo because it's a delicious dish which can be shared by many.

It's also one of my husband's favorite dishes to cook as well and one of my favorite dishes to eat.  Now our eldest who's a teenager is beginning to explore other kinds of food beyond soup-based or fried.  He's been enjoying my Lutong Nanay dishes and I'm extremely happy about it.
My teenager enjoying his Pork Menudo dish which I cooked
Of course the dish wouldn't be as tasty without the help of Knorr Pork Cubes.  I'd like to share with you a simple recipe which is easy to follow when cooking Pork Menudo.

Mindful Mom Retreat - A Birthday Gift To Myself

$

I want to share with you how I celebrated my birthday in advance by attending Mommy Mundo's Mindful Mom Retreat.
When I got an invitation, I readily said yes because I've been contemplating on doing something meaningful for myself on my birthday.  A retreat is always a perfect idea for that solo flight.  I need at least half of my day by myself as ME, not as a wife, a mom, a friend, nor a career woman.  I need time alone to reflect on where am I right now in my life and where do I want to go.  I often ask, what's my life purpose?  Am I doing good with the roles that I'm currently juggling?  Am I okay?  Am I enough?  Though I know I'm good, sometimes I need a push and a voice telling me "YES! You're doing great Louise!"
The Mindful Mom Retreat was what I needed at that exact time.  It was a morning filled with motivational and inspirational thoughts and realizations about myself as a mom.  Being a mom is not as easy as everyone thinks.  Only another mom would understand how much we wish we have a clone when caring for the kids, tending the household, working in the office, and even cooking meals.  Only another mom would know how much we want to have an extra five minutes of shower and not hear a knock on the door rushing us to come out.  Only another mom would understand how tired we get everyday and yet we cannot or do not complain at all, but still wish we could do more.  Only another mom would understand that even after doing everything for the family, we still feel guilty for not doing enough.  It's an exhausting job and so YES YES YES to a retreat.  My body, my mind, and my spirit needs it.  You need it too!

The retreat was facilitated by Michele Alignay, a registered psychologist who helped get us back to mindful mommy shape after hearing her talk and share her insights on being a mom.  The activities she asked us to do were all intentional in getting to know what fills our day, in identifying life scripts, in getting to know our strengths and weaknesses as moms, in illustrating who we really are as a woman, and lastly drawing our mindful mom plan.
Hearing Ichel talk in front telling us to reboot, recharge, slow down, destress, and care for ourselves was helpful to me in being more intentional.  She gave me a much-needed pat on my back and encouraging beliefs to live by while I go on my life as a mom after the retreat.

Here were my main key takeaways:

1.   Be mindful of what you're busy about everyday. "It's not enough that you are busy, but the question is, "What are we busy about?"  Most of the time we equate being a mom to being a superwoman or super-multi-tasker.  We tend to become overly busy that we do not find balance anymore.  And when there's no balance, of course we tip over and burn out happens.  In everything we do, let's ask ourselves, will this contribute to my own well-being?  Will this bring happiness to my children?  Is this fulfilling?  Most of the time, we become busy doing things for our children that we forget to spend quality time with them.  We should be mindful in living the now with them than hide in the endless list of chores.

2.   Choose the happy train of thought. Looking back at how we were raised when we were younger, it's so much different today.  The way how to discipline the children before may not work now.  We also hear many things from other moms/parents on how we should go about parenting.  Hence, we have unrealistic expectations, misinterpretations, and irrational beliefs which affect our thoughts, attitudes, and emotions.  What if we filter everything we hear and CHOOSE only which we think will work best for our kids and our family, we'll be at peace with ourselves with less stress and struggles in making it work at home. "I am not what happened to me, I am what I choose to become!" - Carl Jung

3.   Let go of things that bring you down.  Three phrases we should let go from our minds are: What If... If only... Why me...  Let's just do what we think we should be doing.  If we make a mistake, move on and be better.  And if we can do it, let's just do it.  It's emotionally and psychologically dragging to be asking ourselves those three phrases.  Let go and just do it anyway.

4.   Accept your imperfections. Let's face it, no one is perfect.  No motherhood method is perfect.  We are all beautifully imperfect and hey, that's okay!  Accepting our own imperfections will set us free.  Knowing that will make us more mindful and tolerant about the imperfections of our family, other people and other circumstances.  We have a messy house, piled up laundry, rooms with scattered toys around, unplanned weekly menu, less appealing baon for kids, it's OKAY.  I've accepted that I can never be perfect and I love what I have right now, my imperfect family. :)

5.   Self-Care is important to mindfulness. It is to BE than to DO.  It is pausing, reflecting, and being present in the moment.  It's not overthinking nor comparing ourselves to others. Self-care is connecting ourselves to the the chosen good influences in our lives.  For me, the influences I retain right now are those that bring value to my life and lift me up instead of bring me down.  Self-care is being able to declutter our thoughts and minds and being able to say NO if needed.  It's pacing tasks, learning how and when to pause, letting go of things we have no control of, and lastly, honoring ourselves.
All these things when we practice intentionally will make us mindful moms.  It will make us more loving moms and wives.  It will result to clearer thoughts and make us more focused on the goals we have for our families.

Ichel had been helpful in helping me reboot that day.  Admittedly, I was late for the session because of the "busyness" of my morning at home, which I realized during the session that I just had been keeping my self unnecessarily busy.  There were things to do which I could have left my husband to do for me.  But instead, I sort of punish myself for feeling guilty if I had not done it myself.  Mali yun.  I have to let go of this itchiness to do everything by myself and accept that I can't do everything or else, I'll really be drained before the day ends and I couldn't intentionally live and be and I cannot be mindfully present for my family.

Thanks Ichel for the reminder and for being an inspiration not only to me but to many moms during the session.  I'm also fortunate to be one of the first of your audiences during your book launch, "Family Goals".

Thanks to the sponsors of the Mindful Mom Retreat for the goodies as well!

1 Million Clean Toilets With Domex

If there’s one area in the house that I want to spend some ME time, it’s in the toilet and bathroom.  And I believe there’s no mom who would want to spend some me-time (shower or just sit on the throne or even stare at herself in the mirror or talk to herself in it to find balance) in a dirty area right? No one, I guarantee that.  Cleanliness is of top importance when it comes to toilet and bath.

That’s why we follow a regular bathroom cleaning schedule.  What joy it brings me when I enter the bathroom sparkling clean and nice-smelling as well, because a clean-looking and clean-smelling bathroom almost equates to having a safe dwelling place.

Wrong.
I found out during the lunch gathering organized for moms by Domex, that it’s not enough that tiles in the bathroom and the toilet bowl looks visibly clean.
If you have kids, clean is not enough, it has to be a germ-free to avoid bacteria-causing illnesses such as flu, diarrhea, gut infections, and even eye infections.  I remember just this year, when my preschooler got stomach flu because he touched the toilet bowl and accidentally put his finger in his mouth.  I was devastated when we had to rush him to the emergency room.  He missed classes and I missed office days too.  I don’t want this to happen again, not to my family and anyone else’s.  I learned my lesson the hard way.
Since then, we use Domex Extra Thick Bleach to thoroughly clean and disinfect the toilet and bath to ensure that it’s not only clean, but it’s germ-free.  It’s an easy way to protect my children from getting sick because of these germs.  Having a well-sanitized toilet and bath shouldn’t be taken for granted.
Domex had been active in the One Million Clean Toilets movement in partnership with Maxicare, Philippine Public Health Association, and UNICEF to educate 1 million individuals about proper toilet cleaning.  I’m proud to be one of them.
In a demonstration done during the event, we were shown that the clean tile without Domex when subjected under the UV light showed it was filled with germs!
The toilet demonstration also showed that Domex Extra Thick Bleach could help in eliminating the long-staying germs represented by the stains.  Domex is more effective than any other regular bleach brands because it’s 100x thicker!
It definitely cleans better, reaches hard to clean areas, it lasts up to 7 flushes, and can kill a wide-range of germs, bacterias, and fungi.  Now that’s a brand I can only trust in caring keeping our toilets clean and sanitized; a brand which will help me in protecting my kids from illnesses.

Proper sanitation should start at home.  In as simple as cleaning the toilet thoroughly, we keep our children safe and protected from harm.  This is the message of Domex to every household in our country.  We should be fully aware of the sanitation issue and the only way to go is to use Domex Extra Thick Bleach for our toilets, for the sake of our family’s health and safety.

Domex Extra Thick Bleach is available in all supermarkets nationwide for only Php80.00.  For more updates on the movement, follow their story online with the hashtag #1MCleanToilets and #DomexPH.

Preparing Christmas Gifts for the Kids

It is the season to be jolly because Christmas is just a few days away!  As parents we always tell our children from the start of the year pa lang to be good girls and good boys so that they will receive gifts from Santa.  But personally, telling them not to be naughty and just be good is quite vague.  So what we do is list important values and things to follow religiously so that they will be rewarded with gifts not only from Santa, but from us as well.
Our teenager son found out the truth about Santa when he was 12.  I feel successful in keeping Santa alive in his heart until the last year of his childhood.  Now, our preschooler is beginning to know about Santa and I told our eldest to also extend the excitement to his brother.  Excitement for what?  For presents and in order to get what he wishes for, he has to be good.  We’ve drawn some guidelines for him to follow throughout the year and we’re glad that he’s doing a great job in following them.

How Not To Be Naughty This Christmas:
1.     Share toys and play fair.  He has a cousin who lives with us.  At their age (6 and 5 year old kids), they are like cats and dogs when fighting over toys.  Since my son is older, he has to learn how to share so that his cousin would also share his toys.  More toys to share the better and happier their playtime would be.

2.     Participate well in school.  This year is my son’s second year of learning in school.  We didn’t force him to it when he was four.  We skipped nursery because I believe he should be still be playing, actually until age seven if we only could let him.  So far, he’s doing well and learning faster than expected.  At age six, he knows how to read complex words, he listens well to his teacher, and the most important thing is he’s having fun.

3.     Eat healthily.  Junk food is a no no in our family, not eating it every day that is.  I’m happy to say that my kids took after our distant relationship with junk foods.  Good points are given whenever they eat vegetables and fruits to keep them healthy and strong.

4.   Take vitamins every day.   I was taught that eating healthy foods alone isn’t enough, having a supplement is better.  Thanks to the more polluted environment, it’s easier for our kids to get sick.  They need to religiously take vitamins that would help them become stronger and healthier.  Our criteria of a good supplement are one that has Lysine and B-Vitamins(to help boost and maintain appetite) and 100% RENI Vitamin C (for stronger immunity).  It’s a plus that it has Taurine (for brain development), Chlorella Growth Factorand Vitamin D to boost their height and keep bones stronger too.  We found all these in Propan TLC

5.   Help around the house.  Training my boys to help around the house by doing simple chores or just assisting me in what I do or simply play with our baby, will benefit them a lot and make them dependable and responsible young men.  I always tell them that if they know how to do things around the house, their future girlfriends or wives and children will thank Mommy.

So there goes our list of things they need to do or accomplish year-round to make them get the presents they really want from “Santa”.  But more than them doing good, as parents, it’s our duty to make things possible and available for them to conveniently do the things we expect them to do.  Buy healthy foods, administer the Propan TLC vitamins daily, prepare them daily for school and make sure their supplies are complete, and lastly, be present for them always.

Now, the only thing we’re waiting for is their Christmas gift wish list.  Hopefully, they items on the list are within our budget.  But if they happen to be quite expensive, as long as they’re consistent in being good boys, go lang!  How about you loves?  How do you prepare your Christmas gifts for the kids?

4 Things We Like About BIG Ball Pit By Fun Ranch

Christmas season isn't over yet for sure especially for working moms and dads who filed their leaves from work to enjoy the holiday with their kids.  And to you (yes you who's on leave and enjoying your time with the kids) I've got an idea where to bring your family for a unique kind of fun.
Bring them to Fun Ranch in Ortigas where the BIGGEST BALL PIT for kids and the kids-at-heart is! Our family had a chance to play in the Ball Pit and boy, I  my kids really had so much fun!
The BIG Ball Pit has 100,000 multi-colored plastic balls where anyone from kids to teens (and yeah, even adults) can dive, jump, and swim!  I brought my two kids with me who are above the minimum height requirement of 40".  Dandre is aged 13 and Wes is 6.
Playing Finding Wessie and Finding Dandre in this awesome shot!
The pool of balls reaches up to almost half my height (which isn't too tall at 5'1").  So it's important that your kids are big enough to be actually seen in the middle of the ball pit and could explore the spacious ball of pool by himself.  Socks should be worn all the time for hygienic purposes.  If you came without it, it's available in the cashier area.
Aside from diving, swimming, jumping into it, sinking into it, your child could also play basketball in the BIG Ball Pit.  A basketball ring is available for shooting.  My son had fun trying to shoot the plastic balls while in it.
The BIG Ball Pit by Fun Ranch is open daily.  Here are their rates on regular days and holidays:
4 Things We Like About the BIG Ball Pit:
  1. Finally adults has a reason to be a kid again and ACTUALLY have a place to play!
  2. The ball pit is truly BIG, the biggest we've seen so far.  It's spacious so there's room for everyone to play.
  3. Fun Ranch marshals are present to guide children on how to courteously play inside the pit.  I like their strictness when it comes to height requirement, to no throwing of balls (at other people) policy and only getting in and out of the pit at the designated corner (where the staircase is.)
  4. Rate is very reasonable - it's actually budget friendly.  For its rate, you get so much more!  BIG Fun!

The Fun Ranch Big Ball Pit is located at Frontera Verde Complex Ortigas Ave., cor C5, Pasig City.  For more details, call 706-3019 and 6872870.  You may also check their updates and promos on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter.

How Much My Kids Like Alaska Powdered Milk

$

Honestly, I am not a milk drinker.  I had a heartbreaking love story with milk when I was younger, like around 4 or 5 years old.  This history became the main reason why I push my own kids to drink milk today, everyday.  It's a mission I've been succeeding so far with my preschooler and my teenager.
I used to hear my mom say, "Drink your milk now to keep you healthy and strong." As a kid, I used to roll my eyes and my mom would force me to finish a glass.  It's not that I didn't believe her, but taste for me was a big thing.  I simply didn't like the milk she used to give me because it wasn't delicious. Had it tasted good, I would still be drinking milk today.  I now know that milk is essential in maintaining overall good health for both kids and adult because it's packed with Calcium (to keep bones and teeth strong) and Vitamin D (which help the body absorb Vitamin C for immunity), that's why I've been creative in making my children drink milk.
Buti na lang, my children are milk lovers since they were babies.  My preschooler Wes, is quite tall for his age and is a very active boy.  He likes pretend play, running, riding the bicycle and doing some karate or ninja moves like his favorite turtle characters.  He needs strong bones for all these activities to keep him up on his feet all the time.  That's why milk is important for him to take every day.  He loves milk and drinks a glass two to three times a day.  He can't sleep without drinking milk.
My teenager Dandre, is 13 years old and is a basketball varsity player in school.  Being a basketball player, it's important that his skills in the sport should be above-average and we all know that having towering height is an advantage.  He trains everyday after school thus, having strong body and bones is important.  To achieve these, he sleeps at least 8 hours a night, eats healthily, and the most important of all, drinks milk every morning and at night before bedtime.
Taste of milk is important for my boys.  If they like it, they'll drink it.  If they don't, naku, sorry, I have to look for another brand.  I hit the jackpot when they started drinking Alaska Powdered Milk.  We did a short video to show much much they like Alaska:
Wow!  My boys are milk monsters aren't they?  They truly love the taste of the creamy and yummy Alaska Powdered Milk!  Here's what other kids have to say about Alaska Powdered Milk.

Let’s all make it a habit for our children to drink milk every day!  Make sure it’s delicious so kids will enjoy all the benefits of drinking milk.  For my kids, Alaska Powdered Milk is their “Super Duper Sarap” choice!

A Slowdown 2016 And My Important Takeaways

$

No one really knows how a year would turn out for him unless he’s Nostradamus or Master Hanz Cua right?  Let’s take me for example.  Even if I masterfully planned at the start of the year, some major circumstances happened along the way which blew me surprisingly.  These occurrences resulted to my slowdown 2016 which affected my career and blog life but benefited my roles as a wife and a mother.

I thought I got it going right coming from a blast in 2015, a great year for me - marriage proposal, bought a brand new car, big contracted endorsements, beautiful rustic wedding, and getting pregnant to my third.  But nah!  2016 was the opposite of the previous year.  It slowed me down.  But it's still worth remembering because it's the year our dear Damien was born.
Let me say that the results were both good and bad.   My 2016 started with a reorganization in the company.  I felt insecure with my job because I was moved to another group.  You know the feeling of not knowing where to go or what to do next or if you still have a job after a few weeks or months?  That exact feeling.  Resignation was not an option for the four months preggy me.  But my work life had to go on.  Fortunately, I was still working on a project which I gladly launched before a major pregnancy risk dawned on me.

Come March, during a regular check-up, my OB-Gyn told me I need to take a bed rest or else risk the chance of having a pre-mature labor or childbirth due to open cervix.  That scared me and my husband and I had no choice but to follow her orders.  I was lucky to have understanding boss who allowed me to just work from home so I wouldn’t have to use up my vacation leaves or sick leaves.  In the middle of my bed-resting days, two more office movements occurred and I’m blessed to be placed in a group with lady bosses who were considerate and understanding of my situation.  I returned their kindness by successfully launching projects.  The latter movement was self-initiated. I applied for an opening and got the post even when I’m on bed rest and about to take my supposed 60-day maternity leave.

I thought I was giving birth through NSD, but another twist surprised me and my husband.  My cervix was dilated by 10 cm for almost two hours to help baby get out, but he was facing up so myOB-Gyn performed an emergency CS.  It was a first for me.  Both Dandre and Wes were delivered through NSD (9.2 and 7.8 lbs respectively).  But Damien, at 8.4lbs, came out to this world with a BANG!  We weren’t financially prepared for this, so we used our family emergency fund.

Giving birth to Damien was last year’s beautiful highlight.  I’ll forever be thankful to God for giving me such a wonderful gift!  But guess what, I wasn’t able to bring him home right away, he stayed in the hospital for another day and that’s a sad news.  He had jitters which were signs of health abnormality.  He was released after his lab test results were cleared.

I breastfed my baby exclusively forthe very first time and my milk was abundant.  I fed him anytime and anywhere and I was rocking it!  But when he turned two months, he was unfortunately given a bad batch of milk.  I took full responsibility of that because I didn’t throw it away nor gave instructions to the caretaker.  So baby was confined and had his first experience of IV at a very tender age.  We had no choice because he was clearly dehydrated.  We went home immediately after series of tests cleared him of further bacterial stomach infections.  It taught me a lot about proper storage of breast milk and a lot of other moms who read my blog post about it also learned from my experience.

Now going back to work as an exclusive breastfeeding mom was challenging and heartbreaking.  But towards the end of the year, what luck I had, we had to fire our yaya of almost three years immediately.  I had been yayaless for a month.  I had to take a few leaves and also worked from home.  I did mommy and household errands gleefully.  I was tired but happy and fulfilled that it came to a point when I contemplated and was 75% decided on quitting my job and look for a home-based job.  I got my husband's full support already and I was sending out my applications too.  Until I found a new yaya (which I should be happy about but felt sad that I won't be staying at home that much anymore).  I went back to my regular routine (which didn't appeal to me anymore at that time because of the adjustments I had to make here and there) and talked to my lady boss who gave me words of wisdom.  Oh!  And by the way, sometime November, my husband and I had a major fight which really took a toll on me.  But I chose to process it, work it out and be happy.  We were okay after a month.  Forgiveness on both ends was the key.  And lots of prayers too of course.

The series of misfortunes in my life subsided in December (thank heavens!)  In fact, it started to pick up a bit.  I welcomed new friends in my life, bonuses came, blog earnings also poured, gifts from brands and PRs also made me feel it was indeed start of the happy holidays.  The year may not had ended with a bang for me, but it ended quietly, peacefully, and lovingly in the presence of only those dear to me.

Here are my 2016 takeaways:

On Career/Blog
  • Family and Health Still Comes First. However high your targets, your goals and your KRAs are, if your family and heath situation calls for a rest from your work, you really have to stop and priority
  • Think of the pros and cons in every career decisions.
  • Work At Home Moms rock!  I was able to experience it only a month (and believe me I enjoyed playing that temporary role a lot!)  but I know how hard it is to manage the household, care for the kids and devote time to work.  It's a struggle to juggle.
  • Stay focused.  Just keep your project goals in tact and deliver your best.
  • Motivation comes from within.  Most of the time when there are circumstances that are quite depressing, in my case the company reorganization, it's easy to be vulnerable and feel demotivated.  I learned that it's always mind over matter.  Don't reply your motivation from others.
On Health and Pregnancy
  • Extra care should be given when you're pregnant and when you're above 35.  You may think you're physically as strong as when you had your last child.  Every pregnancy is unique. In this area, sometimes mind over matter do not work.  It's your reproductive system over mind and over matter.
  • Trust your doctor and orders should be followed!
  • Always have an emergency fund, you'll never know when to use it.  In my case, we used it during my emergency CS.
On Breastfeeding

  • Every mom could breastfeed, if you really want to.  Breastfeeding is a choice.
  • Milk output is different in every breasts.
  • Support from the husband, family and friends is important to make the breastfeeding journey successful.
  • Breastfeeding is a serious commitment.
  • Working moms could exclusively breastfeed.
  • A breastfeeding mom could have her hair treated, could eat anything and drink anything (yes even beer!)
  • The more baby latches or the more mommy pumps, the more milk her brain tells her breasts to produce.
  • Mommies should strictly follow proper storage for breast milk.  You don't want your baby to experience what my baby did.
  • Read, join support groups, attend workshops, and seek advice from experts to empower you as a breastfeeding mom.
  • Breast milk is really the BEST FOR BABIES.

On Marriage
  • Constant prayer for your husband is a must.  Even if you think you're the one who's in a delicate situation and needs caring for, so does your husband.  He needs prayers for him to be able to perform well at work so he may provide for the family.  Pray that he's safe from harm and that he'll be always in his optimal health condition.
  • Learn to listen.
  • Know when to talk and when to be just silent.
  • Make time for date nights.
  • Learn how to always forgive.
  • It's better to lose your pride than to lose the one you love.
On Parenting
  • You can never have enough love for any of your children because honestly it's ALWAYS overflowing.
  • Teenagers need space and privacy, respect them.
  • Develop and open communication with your children as early as they can already carry a conversation.
  • Learn your children's language, interests, and what's in so you could relate to them more.
  • Be an intentional parent and teach by example.
  • There's no greater gift to your children than to let them know and love God.
I could actually go on and on but we all know that life is a continuous learning process.  My 2016 may not be one of the best years of my life (but I'm glad our family had DAMIEN because he's the BEST that happened to us this year!) but I'm glad that I was able to spend more than half of the year at home with my children, ang sarap ng feeling!

Now, the first week of 2017 has been good so far.  Before going back to work, my husband and I did some financial and family planning exercise and it's the first time we did it together!  I highly recommend couples to do goal setting and planing at the start of the year.

There goes my honest-to-goodness year in review.  How about you?  Care to share about the year that was?  HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!

Husband-Wife 2017 Financial and Family Planning

$

As moms, we tend to do our planning at the beginning of the year all by ourselves, right?  We jot down our daily or monthly things to accomplish for the household, for the kids, for the whole family.  We sometimes leave out our husbands because we think it’s not their thing to do the planning activity.  I’m guilty about this, and probably I may the only one among you reading this post, but good news!  I put an end to this solo activity last January 2, before going back to work.

I involved my husband finally!  But I conditioned him a week or 2 before our planning date night.  Let me tell you as early as now before spilling the juicy details, that it was an awesome experience!
How I planned the planning date night.

After receiving our bonuses, spending for Christmas gifts shopping, and listing down other expenses and 2017 receivables, I told him that it would be a good idea to list down everything together and plan our expenses for the year.  He would usually tell me, “Kaya mo na yan, you know my income, my expenses. Love you!” Ok naman ang rejection kasi may I love you sa dulo.  But still, I had to find a way to make him cooperate, so I reminded him that Damien will turn 1 year old and Wes, 7 years old, milestones which we have to celebrate.  Celebration means a lot to him and that became a bait.  So ayun, he asked, “Sige, game, kelan?!”
2017 FAMILY PLANNING
Eto na!  Wait, let me clarify, we’re not planning for another baby anytime soon (waah! I’m not ready!)  Our planning date night was intended to meet the following objectives:

Financial:
  • To check our Financial Health
  • To plan how to make more money, save and invest
Marriage and Family:
  • To make efforts to spice up marriage
  • To be intentional in parenting our children
  • To improve in areas of spiritual, health, and fitness
Let me share with you how we started.  First, order pizza and beer.  As most of our loko-loko friends say “Pag may alak, may balak!” Yeah, may balak kami mag-planning talaga for 2017 and celebrate a milestone in our marriage because we’ve both matured to commit to our planning date night.

Second order of business, do the math.  The goal is to know if we’re living within our means or not and what miracle is happening that we’ve managed to survive our 2016 expenses.  Let me hare with you how to check your financial health.  The result that we all want is to know that we’re not deficit in terms of income vs. spending.  Thankfully, we’re okay.

FIRST STEP:  LIST DOWN INCOME AND EXPENSES
  • Fixed Income less salary deductions (from SSS/Pag-Ibig/Philhealth/Withholding Tax)
  • Income from bonuses or sidelines
  • Fixed Monthly Expenses
  • Discretionary Expenses
  • Major Expenses
SECOND STEP: COMPUTE
Next step is to identify your combined monthly cash flow and see if you're financially in the pink of health or if you're deficit.  Of course we want to see a healthy result and not otherwise.

Subtract your combined fixed monthly expenses and discretionary expenses from your fixed income.  What's the result?  Do you still have balance? Or is it negative?  If it's negative and you're wondering where you got the money to pay off your major expenses (school tuition fees, summer activity fees, travel expense, etc), take a look at your combined income from sidelines and bonuses.  Did they cover all these expenses?

STEP THREE: IDENTIFY IF YOU'RE LIVING WITHIN YOUR MEANS OR NOT
It's a good activity to see if you're living within your means, if you're spending less than you earn or otherwise, if you're spending too much on discretionary expenses, if you still have room for savings and investments, if you could still need to look for sidelines (should you happen to rely entirely on your fixed incomes) or if you're doing okay.  The activity will reveal a lot about your spending and saving characteristics and how you could improve in this area by working together.

After computing, we high-fived each other for working together as a good tandem in keeping the family financially stable.  We realized that where we spent too much and that we could have actually saved more, which we committed to do this year.

We also listed down our passions and talked about how we could monetize these (I'll talk about this on another post soon).  We listed our dreams to put up a business, diversifying investments and other extra money plans.  Our goal is to save and invest as much as we can, so it's really important to spend less than we earn.

PLANS FOR OURSELVES & THE FAMILY
Moving from the income and expense computation, the next steps in our date night were exciting.  We talked about the spiritual aspect of our family, marriage/relationship, sex and date nights, parenting our kids, dream travel destinations, health and fitness goals, and individual goals.

In this digital age, I still believe in the classic and effective practice of writing it down and making things happen.  Also to ensure that the date night planning didn't just happen like an event, we also wrote down our action plans, which we're both seriously committed to achieve

A WEEK AFTER...
After knowing the expense areas where we could save (food and gas), I've been bringing lunch and snacks baon to work.  We also made some adjustments to our routes so we could also save on gas.  We even started our daily expense sheet so we could monitor our expenses closely and know exactly where our hard-earned money goes to.  So far, it's doing us both really good because not only we save money on food, we eat more healthily because it's "lutong bahay" and we avoid food wastes at home.

On marriage and family matters, we've been more intentional to each other and in pareting our kids.  Quite surprisingly, he already asked me out on another date, watch a musical with him!  Kinilig ako slight! :)  So far so good and I hope we achieve all the goals we listed in the different areas of our lives.  It makes me extremely happy.

I highly recommend a husband-wife tandem on financial and family planning.  Two heads are better than one definitely.

~How about you?  How do you do your new year planning?  Do you do it alone or have been doing it with your husband?  How's the experience?  Could you share any tips below?~

Hello... It's me.  I was wondering if after all these years.... (admit it you sang to Adele's song!) you're still there and supporting my blog.

It has been quiet here lately.  This post has been on my draft since January 10.  It's the first time in many years of blogging that I haven't finished a blog post for more than three weeks.  Actually, I haven't been active either on my social media accounts as much as I used to.

WHY?

I also asked myself that question.  What has happened to me?  Why even if I have a long list of blog topics, products and services for feature and review, inspirational and helpful tips in mind, I can't seem to start typing my thoughts whenever I click New Post button?  I start with a high energy but when I see the white empty space, my mind gets lost in that space and I am left staring at the screen.  The next thing I knew, I just click the close button.  And posts in draft get piled up.

But I told myself, I have to brave that empty space, fill it with my thoughts and just type away.  I have to otherwise, I wouldn't get my groove back.  This hiatus has to stop.

It's not just me.  I'm sure many other bloggers out there at one point in their lives almost gave up on blogging or had a hard time making a comeback or just felt they don't want to be too present in the online world anymore.

The reasons for this could be anywhere between "I can't find time." or "I don't feel like it."  Let me share with you some and also what to do to address them (warning, some reasons may be lame, but if you're a blogger and you do have the same reason as mine, could you cheer me up and comment that you also feel these too?!)

HOLIDAY HANGOVER - Sure, it's already February and it's the love month already and here I am still reminiscing about new year and even CNY celebrations hence, I can't make this hangover a valid reason for not updating the blog.  But give me the benefit of the doubt, maybe my hangover from the holidays filed its overtime or indefinite break until the blogging mojo comes back.  Having a hangover makes a person quite lethargic about things which makes going back a hard start.

What To Do: Wake up and accept that the holiday is waaaaaaay over.  Face the new day, new week, new month, and new year!  This reality should be plastered on your face.  Remind yourself by looking at the calendar, looking at your planner, and looking at your blog and the last time you posted.  These should remind you to get up and write something.

CAN'T FIND TIME - Honestly, since baby #3 came beautifully in our lives, I rarely find time for myself.  The haircut, manicure and pedicure I've long wanted to happen for months, just took place last weekend (and my nail polish already chipped by the way as of writing!)  Days became busier as he grows older month by month.  I have two older kids who I prepare for school early in the morning and of course a husband I need to make coffee and eat breakfast with everyday before going to work.  Yes, I go to an 8-5 job in Makati by the way.  The break times I used to spend drafting a post are now occupied with my pumping schedule.  By the time I come home, I have to attend to my husband, a teenager, a preschooler, and a baby.  If I still have little time for myself, I just choose to spend it breathing in and out deeply to relieve stress.  I don't even watch TV anymore.  So these activities, among other things, occupy my day.  So I think I can legitimately say I really can't find time.

What To Do: But still, if I really want to blog, I will and should find time!  That's me talking to myself.  Well yeah, that's one motivation to get up and write.  If you can make time for other activities, then you can fit blogging into your busy schedule.  We don't need to publish posts everyday anyway.  Start by content planning (which I already did), plot it on your calendar, draft the post, edit as necessary, then publish.  You and I just have to keep on doing these steps repeatedly until it becomes habitual.

NO INSPIRATION - Do you rely on inspirations to be able to create a personal or event a sponsored content for your blog?  Do you feel less compelled to write a quality post when you feel down or when your offline life is not doing great?  If your answer to this question is a yes, then we're on the same page.  Sometimes, I tend to delay finishing a post (or posts) when there's something going on in my life that is least likely to be shared online.  I may be an active blogger, but what I share online doesn't necessarily reflect my life offline. Personally, when I'm not feeling great, my blog postings are affected.

What To Do: Get inspiration elsewhere.  It's true what's been said that it's all in the mind.  If the heart is not well, then let your mind work double time.  Let deadlines be an inspiration.  Stick to the WHYs of your blog.  Make your readers your motivation to keep on creating content.  Feed them with the info you'll be sharing through your posts and be their source of inspiration instead.  Always think that your blog brings value to other people to make you continue blogging.

OVERWHELMED - When you are pressured to write or produce a post whether a blog or vlog because you honor commitments, there are deadlines to meet or you just want to tick them off your to-blog-list, sometimes you tend to feel too overwhelmed which leaves you point blank.  The tasks or topics to write keeps on adding to the point of haunting you already to get the work done.  The more it piles up, the more you're stuck up and just couldn't think because you're too overwhelmed.  When this happens, sometimes you don't know which task to take on first that you end up not doing anything at all.

What To Do: Being visual at this time gives you help more than you think you do.  Make a blog calendar, plot on the dates of the current month the topics or features you need to write about at a schedule that's workable for you.  It may be overwhelming yes, but once you cross out one published post after the other, it's such a relief.  Keep on doing it until it becomes regular and a habit and sooner or later, you won't feel too overwhelmed anymore.  The key here is to just START with one post.  When you start with that post, concentrate on that alone.  Don't think of the many others following it, because you'd just panic.  Just start with one. Then another... then another.

COMPETITION - I haven't been too long in the blogging scene compared to those I look up to like Martine de Luna of makeitblissful.com or Frances Sales of topazhorizon.com, but I've been around long enough to witness the sprout of new and aggressive bloggers in the recent years who have the energy, time, and even technical skills to thrive and move ahead fast in the blogging scene.  Personally speaking, I felt insecure and discouraged for a while, which I think is normal should you also feel this way.  I felt this way because I don't have enough time as much as other bloggers do because I work full time and my hands are tied with the new baby and new household schedule. Because I work, I also cannot attend all the events I'm invited to even if I really want to make myself available for it.  I used to sulk and be envious.  The competition is getting tougher.  I don't compete to begin with just to set things clear.  But I could feel other bloggers competing with each other and although indirectly with me, sometimes I tend to leave the race and again, get stuck up.  I also compare myself as a blogger, my blog's reach or influence, and even sometimes the manner how I write.

What To Do: If you also feel the competition eating you up, which is just normal and even healthy, here's what we could do.  Instead of thinking of others, focus on your own blog.  Go back to when you started especially on the WHY you started.  Revisit your blog's core.  What is it that inspired you to put up your blog anyway, get that back.  As it is with fashion, be comfortable with your own blog's offerings.  Write for you and your readers and not to compete.  Personally, every posts I publish are still read by more than 500 people, so this just means I definitely matter to my audience.  Sometimes it's really all in the mind and the worst critic is ourselves.

LAZINESS - This is not an excuse.  But we all feel lazy at one point in our blogging careers. And it's okay, of course as long as it's temporary.

What To Do: Just don't get used to it too much that you don't blog at all or even think of which topics to write or publish even if the queue's already long.  You've got to shake off that laziness and think that your readers are waiting for you to feed their social media timelines with useful information, bemome their daily reading inspirations, and satisfy their need for life hacks that would help them get through their every day.  Your readers are precious and they count on you, they count on us.

So, now that I've FINALLY finished this post, it's time for me to get up, stand up, and blog the year away!  I just hope I was able to reach out to you as well. You a blogger like me, whose blog is currently on hiatus or hibernating or on pause.  Let's empower and bring out the best of each other!  Happy Blogging!

School hasn't ended yet I know, but it's better to plan and budget ahead for what our kids could do this summer.  Hence, as one of my blog's most-awaited posts for the year, I'm bringing you a compilation of 2017 Summer Workshops, Lessons and Sports Clinics for Kids in Metro Manila.

Enrolling my kids to summer activities help in developing their talents or let them discover what they really want to do which build their confidence, improve their social skills, and keep them focused on tasks and goals.  I enrolled my eldest in basketball clinics since he was 7 years old, and now he's a varsity player in his school.  He also sings and plays the guitars, which he learned from the classes I also enrolled him in.  Meanwhile, my preschooler is still on the road to discovery of what he really wants to do, he's only six years old.  As early as now, I can see his interest in the following: singing, painting, reading, and karate too.

As parents to growing and exploring children, my husband and I will do what we can support them in their line of interests.  I'm sure we all want what's best for our kids. Preparing for summer activities couldn't be too early (yes, even if it's still mid-February!)  Summer is the best time to enroll them in classes, workshops or sports clinics.

  • It's a one-stop shop for your kids' needs.  Rainy day essentials, Back-To-School needs, Halloween or Christmas season needs, I shop for them at SM Kids.  Shopping there saves me time and effort, plus it's practical too!
  • SM Kids Sale - On top of all the reasons I mentioned above, this is the best - The SM Kids Sale!  Imagine our favorite kids' brands available at discounted prices!  When I say discount, prices are slashed up to 50% off!  I die!  Imagine how far my Php3,000 shopping budget could go whenever there's an SM Kids Sale.
